Renovation at Novo-Salavatskaya TEC

A rotor for TG-5 turbine generator, which is the main part of the steam turbine, has been installed at Novo-Salavatskaya TEC (Novo-Salavatskaya heat and power plant). TG-5 is brand new equipment installed under an ambitious program of the enterprise renovation. As for the project, it is the first of three similar ones for the comprehensive replacement of steam turbines, generators and auxiliaries. All this large-scale modernization is to result in electric and thermal capacity increase of the heat and power plant, as well as reliability improvement of heat and power supply to Gazprom neftekhim Salavat petrochemical complex.

In 2019, Novo-Salavatskaya TEC requests for equipment modernization were included in the state program on heat and power plants modernization DPM-shtrikh for 2022–2024 and approved by the executive order of the Russian Federation Government. This will allow replacing the main equipment and auxiliaries of the heat and power plant with more efficient ones.

— I am referring to three projects for the comprehensive replacement of steam turbines, generators and auxiliaries — says Dmitry Stepanov, Director of Novo-Salavatskaya TEC. — The first project concerns TG-5 turbine generator. It is to be implemented in 2022. TG-3 and TG-7 projects will be completed in the following years. We are going to replace all the worn-out equipment. This includes large volumes, after all, the plant was started up in 1966.

The upgraded equipment will allow Novo-Salavatskaya TEC to increase the turbine efficiency and operating economy. As a result, specific fuel consumption for heat and electricity generation will be reduced. The equipment replacement is expected to increase the heat and power plant capacity by 105 MW. To date, the installed electric capacity equals 792 MW, as for Novo-Salavatskaya PGU (combined cycle power plant), the installed capacity is 432 MW. Presently Novo-Salavatskaya TEC is ranked second in Bashkortostan after Karmanovskaya GRES (state regional power plant). By the way, it is in the top ten in terms of thermal capacity (10th place) and the top twenty in terms of electric capacity (16th place) on the national scale.

For reference:

Novo-Salavatskaya TEC (Novo-Salavatskaya heat and power plant) is the major heat and power source for Gazprom neftekhim Salavat.

— the installed electric capacity is 792 MW;

— the installed thermal capacity is 2,141 Gcal/h.

Gazprom neftekhim Salavat is one of the largest oil refining and petrochemical complexes in Russia. The Complex was founded in 1948.

The Company is integrated into the Gazprom system. It has the basic advantage: consolidating on a single site a full cycle of crude hydrocarbons processing, petrochemistry and mineral fertilizers production. The Company comprises the Oil Refinery, Gas & Chemical Plant and the Monomer Plant.

Gazprom neftekhim Salavat produces more than 150 items, over 50% of which are bulk products including motor gasoline, diesel fuel, fuel oil, styrene, polystyrene, low density polyethylene, high density polyethylene, DOP plasticizer, butyl alcohols, sulphur, ammonia, urea, acrylic acid, butyl acrylate etc.

The products are shipped to all federal subjects of the country. Export supplies of oil products are mainly directed to European and CIS countries. Petro- and gas chemicals are exported to over 30 CIS and non-CIS countries and the largest volumes are shipped to Kazakhstan, Germany, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Poland, Belgium, Finland etc.

High quality of Gazprom neftekhim Salavat output is confirmed by certificates of conformity to ISO 9001 and 14001, the international standards of quality and environmental safety.
