The new industrial sulfur production unit is a company investment project aimed at reducing the industrial impact on the environment. The production unit, with a capacity of 60,000 tons, will help the company reduce pollutant emissions by 4,670 tons per year. Moreover, the total gross emission into the atmosphere will decrease by 11%, and sulfur dioxide emissions will fall by 30%. The derived product of hydrogen sulfide-containing gas will be industrial sulfur, which is a commercially successful product on the market.

— This is one of the flagship investment projects of our republic, — noted Radiy Khabirov, the Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan. — This is a fairly large facility whose launch we have been waiting for a long time. It will have more advanced processing and, accordingly, provide additional products. It is important that this unit will help to significantly reduce emissions into the atmosphere, which is one of the most important joint works in cooperation with Gazprom neftekhim Salavat within the framework of the quadripartite agreement. It is also important that this is a completely domestic technology, over 90 percent of the equipment of this large unit was manufactured in Russia. I believe that this is a crucial stage in the development of the enterprise. There are new projects ahead which are aimed at more advanced oil and gas processing, including the construction of the most important import-substituting superabsorbent production plant.

— This project was initially intended to be environmentally safe, with the aim of reducing the impact of industrial factors on the environment. Thanks to the new unit, emissions will be reduced. We fulfill our obligations towards the town residents, state and regulatory authorities. The implementation of the project is included in the quadripartite agreement on reducing pollutant emissions into the atmosphere. Moreover, we continue to implement other environmental projects. This includes modernization of the refinery's tank farms, reconstruction of treatment facilities, equipment upgrade projects, optimization of flare systems and many others. Gazprom neftekhim Salavat has been and remains a responsible user of natural resources for many years. We comply with the law, monitor, develop and implement environmental safety programs. Our work in the field of ecology will continue. The construction project of industrial sulfur production unit is included in the list of activities outlined in the quadripartite agreement between Gazprom neftekhim Salavat, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation, the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources and the Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan on cooperation when carrying out measures to reduce pollutant emissions into the atmosphere. The document was signed in May 2023. On top of this, the project is included in the List of priority investment projects of the Republic of Bashkortostan.
